Smithers to Prince George, BC

Before leaving Canadian Tire, I checked to see if they could repair a small stone chip in the windshield of our phaeton, but Canadian Tire doesn’t do glass repairs in BC apparently. Hoping to get it done in Prince George. I did manage to find diesel selling for $0.859/litre at the Chevron in Smithers though so we fuelled up before hitting the road. For those of you wondering……$200, which is a pretty average fill up for us, usually with about 1/4 tank remaining. So far, we have been averaging 7.0 – 7.2 mpg but I am told that will improve once our engine is broken in. Not sure why diesel was so cheap in Smithers. All the way to Prince George we saw prices at $0.939/litre or higher. Lucky us!

The drive to Prince George was pretty uneventful and we commented on more than one occasion that the scenery was pretty bland compared to Alaska, but then that is likely true for a lot of places. We arrived in PG by mid afternoon and checked in at Southland RV Park on Hwy 97, about 6 km south of town. This is a very nice park and the staff are very friendly. We will stay here 3 nights before moving on to Williams Lake to see my nephew and his family.

We helped Jim and Jane celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary over a bottle of wine and some BBQed salmon. Congratulations you two!
