TT Oceana

We headed out from TT La Conner at 9 am this morning. Our first stop was at the Flying J in Tacoma. I’ll let Jim tell you how he wound up paying for my fuel using his debit card. Wasn’t anything we did……. I-5 through Seattle was pretty busy. I’m glad we went through on a weekend. I can’t imagine I-5 there during the week. Rough road and lots of traffic. We did catch a glimpse of Safeco field and the Boeing plant on the way through though.

We turned west at exit 104 on Hwy 101 north and stopped at Walmart in Aberdeen for a few things. We thought it better to pick up some bits on the way through Aberdeen, than driving the 18 miles or so back into town. Oceana is a Leisure Times Resort and also part of the Thousand Trails chain. The park wasn’t exactly where either of our GPSs indicated but it was right on State Road 109, so no worries getting there. Ranger Amy was there waiting for us. They had plenty of space available, even sewer sites if we wanted them. The park has two separate areas. One right near the highway which had full hook ups, and another closer to the beach with no sewer, but good satellite reception. I had dumped before leaving La Conner this morning and opted for site 100, the site closest to the path leading to the beach.

Setup was a breeze. PP leveled easily and our Datastorm was locked on very quickly. Internet and Bell ExpressVu HD TV, both working very well. I chatted with Chris online for a bit and then took back my site registration slip to the ranger station. Tea at Rankins and then I went for a little stroll with my camera to the beach. The rain started as I walked but it wasn’t cold. The beach is about a quarter mile stroll west over the dunes and then runs for miles in either direction to the south and north. Can’t wait to get out and see it in better light.  Raining hard now.

Chris’s dad checked into hospital today and is scheduled for surgery first thing tomorrow morning. He is in good spirits and we all hope everything goes well. Should be all over by noon Halifax time.  Chris is a trooper and holding up very well as she looks after both her parents until November.  Good on you hon!
