Whitby and York

We took a drive up to Whitby on Tuesday and had a wonderful day tromping around the grounds of the 12th century abbey ruins as well as the town’s cobblestone streets surrounding the harbour.  Bram Stoker’s Dracula movie was filmed in Whitby using the abbey ruins and town as it’s principle setting.  We had been to Whitby before but had not toured the ruins of the abbey. Weather was fabulous all day.
Wednesday, we took mom to York and had a nice day touring this old walled city.  Chris and I visited York Minster and climbed the 275 steps in the Minster’s tower while mom took in the sights on the main level..  Chris even got a pin for her accomplishment.  Lots to do here.  Thursday, we are heading up the coast a bit to Robin Hood’s Bay.  Cooler today.  My time is running out so I better go.
