Blue Ridge Trail

Friday, we were up early for breakfast and then packed our backpacks for our hike up Blue Ridge Trail.  The trailhead is just minutes east of Canyon Creek Resort.  Because this trail is much steeper than the Homestead Trail, we both used hiking poles this time.  The hike to the top of the summit was about 3.5 miles round trip and we were both rewarded with a fabulous view of Lake Berryessa and the surrounding countryside.

We took a run into Napa in the afternoon and popped in and see my aunt.  They moved to Napa from the San Fernando area about seven years ago and have a lovely bungalow in the center of town.  We popped into Safeway for a few groceries before heading back to our campground.  We were a little hesitant to come back on Hwy 121 after dark because the road is quite twisty and hilly and poorly lit, so we took a run out I-80 to Vacaville where we enjoyed a lovely supper at Applebee’s before heading north on I-505 back to Winters.
