Ed Bustya’s Nature Images

Jerome, Arizona

Today was photo expedition day for me with Ed Bustya, a local professional photographer, from the Cottonwood area. Chris and I met Ed while photographing the pelicans in La Jolla, CA last month. He is a great guy and a very talented photographer to boot. Please click on the title above for a link to Ed’s website. We met up at Home Depot in Cottonwood at 8 am to drive up the hill to see Jerome in the morning light. The light wasn’t perfect but it was pretty good with lots of low clouds hanging about. Ed suggested trying a little High Dynamic Range photography. We were both shooting on tripods. The above photograph is three photos in one, all blended together with Photomatix Pro. The HDR technique will certainly come in handy in the future. Next, we checked out Page Springs Fish Hatchery for a little birding before heading into Sedona to meet Chris at Wildflower Bread Company for lunch. Pickings were a little slim but we did spot a great blue heron sitting in a tree, which gave us a chance to try a little video with my new Canon EOS 1D mk IV for the first time.

All in all, I had a great time and many thanks to Ed for taking time out of his busy day to show me around.
