Western Horizon Resort, St David, AZ

Today was moving day. We headed east on I-10 out of Casa Grande, past Tucson to the WHR park in St David, AZ. We were all set up by noon. As Jim Rankin would say……another crap day weatherwise! Rained almost the whole way here with a single digit high of only 4C in St David. But looking on the bright side, the weather improves again tomorrow. We couldn’t get in to St David using our ROD membership, but our friends Gary and Linda, who were at Casa Grande, are WHR members and gave us a free 5 day/4 night stay pass, so we used that. We have to sit through a 90 minute presentation on Thursday morning, but we don’t plan on buying into WHR. Can’t see why we should buy when most of the WHR parks are accessible to us through either RPI or ROD.

Given we are only here for a few days, we decided to check out the town of Tombstone despite the rain. What a great little town. It has definitely been hit hard by the economic downturn but there is so much history here, that we are sure it will bounce back in time. We enjoyed having a walk around Boothill and the old main street of yesteryear. Touring Easy Going mine was great fun too. This old silver mine is being refurbished as a tourist attraction and definitely worth a visit.
