Abita Springs RV Resort

We’ve enjoyed our stay at this park.  It was formerly owned by Western Horizons but more recently it is now part of the Ocean Canyon Properties group.  Located on Hwy 435 in a very rustic, country setting near Abita Springs, this park has seen some positive improvements since being taken over by Ocean Canyon Properties.  All interior roads have been regraveled and are graded twice a week.  All sites in the full hook up area are gravel based.  There are two nice sized fishing ponds and locals were pulling out some good size large mouth bass while we were here.  There is also a nature trail through the woods and around one side of the ponds.  Wifi is $5/day but we got a deal for the 6 days we stayed here.  50 amp + wifi for $5/day.  The park accepts both RPI and ROD affiliated memberships.

We spent two days wandering around New Orleans checking out the sights and have also managed to get stuck in rush hour traffic twice as well.  Unbelievable!  Definitely hurry up and wait.  Traffic around Hwy 190 and I-12 has been nuts this weekend.  Today being Good Friday, we were surprised that most stores were open.  Don’t usually see that back in Ontario.  Today, we enjoyed a lovely lunch at the English Tea Room in Covington.  They make a great shepherd’s pie and offer a wide variety of different teas.

Saturday morning, we are off to Red Bay, AL for our first visit to the Tiffin Motorhomes factory.  Hoping to get an early start and may try to make it all the way there tomorrow.
