Cape Breton Island

We were on the road just after 9 am this morning to Truro where we picked up the TransCanada Highway, past Stellarton, Antigonish over the Canso Causeway and on to Cape Breton Island.  It was a gray day but the rain held off and the sun even managed to peak out on occasion.  We stopped at the Irving Big Stop in  Auld’s Cove for fuel and then continued on Hwy 105 towards North Sydney.  We are traveling with Chris’s parents, the first time we have had guests while on the move.  Her dad enjoyed watching the scenery roll by from the passenger seat while Chris and her mom sat behind us.
Our home for the next four days will be the KOA near New Harris, Nova Scotia.  It is located on shores of Bras d’Or lake at the base of Kelly mountain, overlooking the Seal Island bridge.  We have 50 amp full hook ups and made good use of them all last night.  Chris cooked a great supper and did several loads of laundry while it rained outside.  We also needed to dump our black and gray tanks after sitting in the driveway at  Chris’s parents for the last week.
We have a few family visits to do in the Sydney area and will also drive the Cabot Trail in our Vue while here.  Weather forecast is supposed to improve.  Pretty wet at the moment but we are snug as a bug and dry.
