Glengarry Highland Games

Today was a big day technology wise. The new iPhone 4 did indeed hit stores in Canada.  Long story short….I went to a Telus, Rogers and Best Buy store looking for a phone in the morning and none of them had any.  The Apple store on Rideau St was sold out in about 2 hours, so I had just about resigned myself to waiting for another 3-4 weeks until they received another shipment.  That’s when Chris came up with the great idea to have  her daughter in Edmonton check out the Apple store there.  Yep!  They had lots in stock and mine is to be delivered here on Tuesday.  Anxiously waiting for my new toy now…..

Our friends, Dick and Rene, had mentioned the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville to us earlier this week.  Maxville is about 50 km east of Ottawa and an easy drive down Hwy 417.  So we packed up our cameras and off we went.  We got there around 1 pm and didn’t get home until after midnight.  What a great event!  Anything and everything Scottish.  The evening tattoo was definitely the highlight of the day.  It started with parachutists landing in front of the grand stands during the playing of the Canadian and American national anthems.  Pipe bands and Scottish dancers followed that along with the band Scotia.  I’m estimating at least 5000 people today and Saturday the crowds will be bigger still.
