Heat Wave

Southern Ontario has been experiencing a heat wave since we arrived back in Ottawa.  Temperatures has been in the 93F/34C range with the humidex adding another few degrees on top of that.  Thank goodness for 50 amp and air conditioners. It’s not very often that we have to run the a/c at night but we have since arriving here.  We’ve been listening to a lot of heat advisories on the radio and TV, basically saying to avoid strenuous physical exertion, drink lots of water and to take advantage of air conditioned shopping malls to help keep cool.  I can’t help wondering if perhaps the shopping malls aren’t paying for those announcements in an effort to draw in more customers.   Air quality has taken a dive too because of all this hot, muggy weather.  I even heard on the news last night that two free shows of the RCMP musical ride at the RCMP stables have been canceled because it is too hot for the horses to perform.  This should last for a couple more days before some cooling rain arrives just in time for the weekend.

We leave for a week trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on Sunday.  Chris’s daughter, Sarah, is getting married to her fiance, Matt.  Been shopping for clothes and running errands for that. Chris is so excited to be seeing her baby girl again. I’m going to try my hand at some wedding photography while there.  Chris was unexpectedly called in for a shift at work last night, so I spent this evening working on some California photos from last November in Photoshop and Lightroom.

Off for a nice bike ride tomorrow morning before it gets too hot.  Hope you like the photos.

The heat has been horrific here as well. Very Cold Winter, Very Hot Summer. Can't wait to see the wedding photography! I'm sure it will be fabulous.
