Ottawa Bike Path

Chris at National Art Galley
We enjoyed a fabulous day cycling on some of Ottawa’s many bicycle paths.  We loaded our bikes on top of the Vue and drove into the Train Yards shopping mall.  From there we unloaded the bikes and followed the bike path along the Rideau river all the way to old Ottawa City Hall.  We followed Sussex Drive to the National Art Gallery and then cycled across the Ottawa river into Gatineau, QC.  The Interprovincial bridge is still under repair but still open for pedestrian and bicycle traffic.   We ducked back down onto the bike path at the Museum of Civilization and followed it all the way to Island Park Drive where we crossed back into Ontario and followed the bike path along the Ottawa river back to the Rideau Canal.  With a little zig zag through the University of Ottawa, we were soon back at our Vue.  Our total ride was just over 30 kms with a few stretching stops thrown in for good measure.
Chris was a little nervous starting off because she hasn’t been on her bike in ages.  I told her it was just like riding a bike…..LOL.  She did great and it wasn’t long before she was zipping right along.  Weather was perfect and there were quite a few people out enjoying the day with us.  It was a little warm in places as shown in the photo below. (Note the sweat on her upper lip)

We have yet to visit Ottawa, but it is another one of those "must see" things on our list. Looked like a great bike ride!
