Gatineau Park

We were up very early this morning and on our way to Gatineau Park hoping to catch a nice sunrise from one of the many view points.  Unfortunately, the sunrise never materialized at either Champlain or Huron lookouts.  We took a run over to O’Brien Beach at Meech Lake and saw a few swimmers still brave enough to test the 65F water.  We were both surprised that the fall colours are not more pronounced than they were, but it is still early so we may have to make another run up there next week before we hit the road.  We followed Hwy 5 north towards Wakefield after that.  On the way we checked out the covered bridge near P16 off Pine Rd, but the bridge is currently being renovated, so no photographic opportunities there either.  We did better in Wakefield grabbing this 1 second exposure of the Old Mill.  I used a tripod with the slow shutter speed which gave a nice blurred effect to the rushing water.
Wakefield Cover Bridge
Our next stop was the covered bridge in Wakefield which stretches across the Gatineau river.  The bridge was refurbished in 1997 but is no longer open to traffic.  The photo seen here is a compilation of 3 shots in Photoshop CS5 using the merge to HDR feature.   Hope you like today’s photographs.
