Red Bay, Alabama

We left Camping World at 10 am yesterday and continued south on I-65 into Tennessee.  We spent one night at Thousand Trails Natchez Trace near Hohenwald, TN.  While at Camping World, we found our generator was not charging our house batteries.  The batteries charge fine while the engine is running.  We are headed in the right direction to get it fixed though.  At TT Natchez Trace, we got a full hook up pull thru site but found we still couldn’t charge our house batteries when plugged in to electric.  I called Tiffin Motorhomes and spoke with Don Boyd, Warranty manager.  He suspects either the inverter or transfer switch may be faulty.  I did a bunch of checking while parked for the night and found a burnt wire inside the transfer switch.  At least we know the root cause now.

While in TT Natchez Trace we ran into Mitch & Barb, friends we haven’t seen since we were in Florida two years ago.  Of course we just had to play a little pickleball.  We had some great games and enjoyed playing in the warm sun.  Temps were around 72F.  Barb grabbed a photo of Chris & I, but me, the photographer, I forgot to bring my camera to the courts.  Oh well!

We hit the road at 9 am this morning and arrived in Red Bay, AL at noon.  The Tiffin service area is jammed with motorhomes.  We won’t get a full hookup site for at least a few days.  The techs came out and inspected our transfer switch, confirming it was fried.  We are booked into Bay 5 at  07:15 am tomorrow morning.

We grabbed a nice fish dry dinner at Swamp John’s and have settled in for an early night.  Hoping to be here no more than two weeks if all goes according to plan, but you just never know.
