Phaeton Place in Salt River Canyon
Phaeton Place at Salt River Canyon
The drive across the top of the mountains in New Mexico was fabulous.  Chris grabbed quite a few photos of the sweeping grassland terrain as we were driving but I haven’t been able to download them from her camera yet.  Still dealing with a dead laptop….although I do have a new Toshiba Qosmio laptop being delivered to our campground tomorrow!  By far the most challenging part of our drive today was Salt River Canyon…..lots of twisty roads…..switchbacks…..etc, but we fared very well and came through with flying colors.
We arrived at Countryside Encore RV Resort at 4:30 pm.  The office was already closed for the day but our welcome packet was at the visitor board by the office.  As we walked over to the office, who do we see but our new friends Jessie and Gerry who we just met in Red Bay.  We were pooped after a ten hour day on the road though so we agreed to put off a get together until we had settled in. Sites are a little tight but we managed to get backed in properly and are here for three days.  Total cost for our stay here as Thousand Trail members….$10.09!  Can’t beat that!
