Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

We spent a good part of yesterday at Mount San Jacinto State Park at the very top of the Swiss made Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.  There are five towers on the cable car ride up the side of Mount San Jacinto.  We rose almost 9000 ft above the Palm Springs desert valley and were greeted with several feet of snow at the top.  We spent a couple of hours walking the snow covered trails and saw many children enjoying sledding and snowshoeing.  Temps were only around 40F at the top but it certainly was not cold.  Lots of bright sunshine and no wind to speak of.  Weather forecast is for rain for the rest of this week so we picked the right day to go.  It was very busy but definitely worth it.  A few photos of what we saw during our visit.

Great pics! I take the Tramway ride every year we go to Palm Springs. It's amazing how it can be so hot on the desert floor and in a few minutes you're in snow!

from the desert to a winter wonderland … and the best part, you leave the snow behind when you go back down.
