Hodad’s and More!

We both slept like logs last night after yesterday’s hike up Otay mountain.  Today’s activities were far less demanding physically.  We drove over to Ocean Beach for a walk on the pier this morning and followed that with lunch at Hodad’s.  Last year while visiting Ocean Beach, we had to stand in line for almost 40 minutes to get a seat at Hodad’s.  Today we got in right away.  Let’s just say we were once again overwhelmed at both the quality and quantity of their food.  I foolishly ordered the double bacon cheeseburger and strawberry milkshake while Chris settled on a single cheeseburger with  chocolate milkshake and we both shared a basket of frings (half fries, half onion rings).

After lunch, we headed north along the coast to Torrey Pines State Preserve and parked along the highway while we went for a nice walk on the beach.  The cliffs along the beach are part of the preserve but after our hill climb yesterday we decided not to climb to the top and instead remained on the beach.

We stopped at the Children’s Pool in La Jolla to see the seals on our way home.  There weren’t as many basking in the sun today as we have seen on previous visits but the seals we did see were certainly entertaining.  We’ll be back in La Jolla on Friday morning at sunrise to photograph the brown pelicans at La Jolla Cave.
