Back in Canada, Eh!

We spent three nights in Birch Bay, WA and crossed into Canada this morning at Abbotsford with little fanfare at the border.  We were asked the basic questions: 1) How long we were in the USA? 2) What was the value of items we were bringing into Canada. 3) Any alcohol, tobacco, firearms or are we bringing in more than $US10,000? 4) The purpose of our visit to the USA? 5) My profession.  I think it took less than 2 minutes and we were on our way to our first stop……..Tim Horton’s for coffee and a breakfast sandwich!
I was more concerned about whether Phaeton Place would fit through the normal traffic lanes at the border.  The bus and truck lane were closed for some work going on in that lane.  I even parked the motorhome in my lane and walked up for a closer look just to be sure we would fit. Thankfully, we fit through but it was tight with only a couple of inches on either side of our coach.
We traveled east on the Trans Canada Hwy 1 to exit 104 east of Abbotsford  and then followed the back roads through Yarrow and on into Thousand Trails Cultus Lake.  We are in a nice gravel site near the main gate for a few days.  30 amp, full hookups and our Datastorm works well between the trees.  Norman Case, the former head ranger, is now the new manager.  We talked about putting Phaeton Place in storage for a month while we are in England.  Last time we were here in Oct 2009 we were able to leave PP on a site plugged in.  This time with the long weekend in May occurring during our absence, the park will be jammed, so we may have to put PP in the storage yard instead.  We have a busy few days here before we head for Alberta.
Chris wanted me to put this photo on the blog to prove that real men can survive a visit to a craft store with no ill effects.  This is Bent & I discussing camera settings while Sharon & Chris did a little shopping in Seaside, OR.
