Sightseeing in Seaside

Evening Sky
Seaside Evening Sky

Our friends Bent and Sharon left South Jetty yesterday morning and pulled in next to us here at Seaside around 3:30 pm.  We all went for a long walk on the beach hoping to see a lovely sunset after supper but unfortunately too many clouds rolled in and the sunset turned into a bust.  I did manage to grab the above shot of the strip and evening sky.  The ocean is off to the right out of frame.  I can’t imagine how busy this town must be over the summer months.  There are quite a few people wandering around this weekend but nowhere near the thousands of people who flock here in the summer.  We wandered around in sweaters, jackets and long pants but we saw lots of short, t shirts and sandals on the beach and with temps only around 52F.  Too chilly for us!
Today, I finished off our tax returns and filed them online with Netfile.  Sure beats having to print them off and mail them.  Given that we are on the road again on Sunday morning, we had our pancake breakfast today instead and as usual it was very tasty.  The sun never appeared today but the four of us walked all around Seaside anyway.  We enjoyed our visit to  the local aquarium.  Lots to see and for only $7.50/person.  We got up close and personal with this Wolf Eel and the sea lions loved performing for treats.
Julie called yesterday and suggested we try Doogers seafood restaurant in Seaside for supper.  Well we went for lunch today while wandering around town and we were not disappointed.  I had poached sea scallops and sweet potato fries while Chris tried the halibut with sweet potato fries.  We also split a piece of homemade key lime pie.  Absolutely delicious, so thank you Julie!

We are on the road in the morning, heading for Thousand Trails Birch Bay which is about 300 miles away.  This will be our last stop in the USA before crossing back into Canada on April 14th.  Weather isn’t looking too good right now.  Lots of rain for the coming week but we’ll take what we can get.

Lastly……..my iPad 2 has shipped and about ten days sooner than promised!

When we lived in Miami Fl we would sneak down to the Florida Keys to get our key lime pie – I'm a type 1 diabetic so these trips where far and few but OMG the only time I would cheat…. Love the pictures – super cute.
