Mothering Sunday was several weeks ago in the UK but we jumped on the occasion to celebrate our Canadian Mother’s Day here in England. Lindsay & Casey made cards for their grandmother & Chris and also managed to smuggle in some flowers late yesterday when my mother wasn’t paying attention. Lindsay also put on a scrumptious pancake brunch for us all today. Lots of pancakes, English bacon, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and whipped cream topping.
The sun shone brightly this afternoon while we took a walk down to Filey beach. There was a nice breeze which was perfect for kite flying. Lindsay bought herself a cheapo kite and a styrofoam glider for Casey to fly on the beach. It was funny to see them behaving like children again. The flying part didn’t turn out too well but they had great fun trying. Of course we all had to have some ice cream as well before we headed for home.
Lindsay helped her grandmother put together roast beef and yorkshire pudding for supper and as usual there were plenty of yorkshire puds left over. Those will disappear at breakfast tomorrow with a little jam. The kids had everything cleaned up and put away as Chris & I left to walk back to our B & B around 8:30 pm. We needed the walk just to stretch the legs.
We are off to Castle Howard and a Yorkshire Lavender farm in the morning. The forecast for next week looks fabulous with nothing but sunshine along the coast. Tough to take! BTW, all of today’s photos were taken with my iPhone 4.
