New Doggie Parents

I hinted in a post last week that we would be bringing a small visitor with us to Ontario later this summer.  Some readers correctly deduced a puppy!  And no, there isn’t a prize for guessing correctly either!  We’ve done all the research and have settled on a mini schnauzer puppy from a litter born in mid May at Mini Schnauzer near Beaumont, Alberta.  We’ll be staying in Leduc for about 6 weeks in June/July which should work out great because our puppy will be ready to travel with us beginning July 18th.  At this point we do not yet know whether we will be getting a male or female.  We are both very excited and already patrolling the aisles of PetsMart online looking for all the doggie paraphernalia….toys, collar, toys, leash, toys, bed, toys, crate, toys, etc.
We’ll have lots of time to visit the kennel and will choose our puppy based on our many visits there.  I expect we’ll be back and forth to the kennel on a daily basis once we arrive in Leduc.  Neither of us are too concerned about gender as long as our puppy is healthy and with good temperament.  We are thinking of naming it Maggie if we get a girl but don’t have any names in mind for a male just yet.  All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Chris has guaranteed me that her puppy will be well trained……much better than I am!  Guess we’ll just have to wait and see on that one!
I wasn’t going to say anything on the blog until we had our new addition but just couldn’t wait any longer to announce the news.
We left Sunshine Valley yesterday morning around 10 am heading for Penticton.  We had to wait for several hours because it had snowed over the Hope Princeton highway and the BC Highways webcam showed the highway was still covered in places.  Once we saw a few motorhomes heading that way though we decided to make a dash for it.  Actually, the roads were in fine shape and we only encountered some minor road work along our route.
We rolled into Twin Lakes Golf and RV Resort which is about 20 km out of Penticton.  We’ve booked in here for a week and are looking forward to having a bit of a rest.  We’ve been on the road in travel mode almost continually since we left Palm Springs in late March so a few days to put our feet up are very much needed.  This is a nice park but there is no cell phone service available.  We do have full hook ups and they have a promotion on right now where you stay for 7 nights and only pay for 6 nights.  Such a deal!  Cable TV and free wifi are included in the price.  Looks like our satellite internet and satellite TV works well here too.

Thinking we’ll take a run into Penticton for a walk along the beach later today and some groceries.  We’ve actually got sunshine this morning too.  Woohoo!!

You'll have many hours of fun with the new member of your family. What a nice event to look forward to! And you have time to prepare for 'potty' training and puppy-proofing all areas of the RV!
