We were called into Bay 7 for 7 am this morning in order to have our dining room slide topper replaced. It too had a small tear starting and we thought we may as well replace it too while here before the tear got much bigger. We were done in less than an hour and after checking out, on the road just after 9 am.
Chris Berry was over last night replacing our fluorescent ceiling lights with LED lights. They give off tons of light but draw virtually no power and generate very little heat. Perfect for boondocking and running off batteries. I’ll post a photo soon.
We headed south on Hwy 19 through Vina out of Red Bay and then into Birmingham on US 78 before turning south to Montgomery and eventually rolling into the Flying J in Dothan, AL. A less than stellar day weather wise as it rained for most of our drive with only a few sunny spots along the way. This is the smallest Flying J we have ever stayed at, but it’ll do for one night.
We grabbed supper at the on site Denny’s. Service was terrible and if not for the dedicated hostess who seated us, we’d still be waiting for our supper. The young waitress assigned to our table must have been having a bad day so the hostess stepped up and looked after us. The food was pretty good.
We spent the evening watching a bit of TV and walking Teddy. The parking lot here is very small with only half a dozen RV spots in the main lot. We managed to get in without having to disconnect the Vue though and have an easy out to US 231 south in the morning. Diesel at Flying J is the highest we have seen in Alabama at $4.01/gallon. We topped up back in Montgomery for $3.79/gallon.
On to Florida in the morning and hoping to be in to Orlando by mid afternoon. Teddy is such a good traveler.
