Wauchula, Florida

Paul's KitchenBob & Julie picked us up on Thursday morning and we all trucked over to Paul’s Kitchen in Wauchula for breakfast.  The guys tied into the $1.99 breakfast which included bacon or sausage, two eggs any style, a pile of potatoes and toast.  The ladies tried french toast and pancakes for only a bit more.  Breakfast for the two of us with coffee came to a paltry $10 including tip!  Sure can’t beat that and the food was pretty good too.  Judging by the number of full tables, Paul’s Kitchen is pretty popular with the locals.  We even made it back in time for a little pickleball.  Temps were decidedly cooler overnight but I still managed to wear shorts, although I did need a sweatshirt until I got warmed up.

Wauchula MuralsChristmas shopping is a little limited in this area and even though we head back to Orlando on Dec 15th, I thought I might try ordering online for a change.  I found quite a few things on Amazon and then also order a new bike rack with a dual hitch receiver for the back of the motorhome from eTrailer.com.  Both orders included free shipping and arrived here at Peace River in about 4 days.  All items were in great shape and the best part was I didn’t have to brave the mall crowds….although I expect we’ll have to get out for a few more things once we get to Orlando.

Gator Head ShotTeddy continues to recover nicely from his tick repair surgery.  His stitches have to stay in until Monday but our vet in Orlando gave us instructions on how to remove them and Chris has done lots of that as a registered nurse (on people of course), so we aren’t anticipating any problems.  He’s picked up one other tick since we got here but we check him after every walk and we managed to remove it quite easily.  Teddy enjoys his morning strolls along the river and the other day Chris ran back to tell me there was an alligator on the near side bank under a tree, just begging to be photographed.  I grabbed my camera and managed to grab the above shot.  A little tough because of the bright sunshine and the alligator was laying in the shade but he was certainly patient while I clicked the shutter.  Kind of makes me think he’s just hoping I would get a few steps closer!

We are off to Bob & Julie’s for a spaghetti supper.
