Speedtest: Verizon 4G Mifi vs HughesNet Satellite Internet

HughesNet Speedtest Results

We’ve had our new Verizon 4G mifi running for a couple of days now and so far we are very happy with the data speeds we are receiving.  I’m posting a couple of screenshots of Speedtest results obtained from both HughesNet and the new 4G mifi.  Unfortunately, I can’t run a test using our old 3G mifi 2200 because it has been deactivated by Verizon.  Guess you can’t have two devices operational using the same phone number.  From recent memory though, 3G mifi speeds were somewhere in the area 1.0 Mbps download and perhaps 0.40 Mbps upload on a good day.  The 4G mifi speedtest results are pretty impressive to be sure.  Admittedly, 4G speeds are not available everywhere just yet but Verizon told they expect most of the USA to have 4G coverage by this fall.  This 4G mifi will also function in 3G areas if 4G is not available.
