As you can tell from today’s selection of photographs, our time at Viera Wetlands yesterday was wonderful.  Lots of action from about 8:00 – 10:00 am and then again from about 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm.  A thunderstorm whistled through the area in the afternoon but we ducked into the Vue to stay dry and waited out the rain before starting to shoot again.  One thing I learned yesterday afternoon is to have two cameras on the go instead of only one.  That way I can have my big lens on the tripod and my 300 mm lens mounted on my Canon 5D mk II for flight shots.  Makes it a lot easier than having to switch lens on one camera all the time.

We are heading for Orlando Wetlands in Christmas, FL in the morning for a little more birding.  Reports are there is plenty of activity there at the present time.

That’s a great photo of big and little Blue. It is the first time we have seen a young GBH.

More fantastic shots … I see a lot of time in Florida in our future. Thus far, our birding has been limited to two occasions pre-cruise – Wakodahatchee and Loxahatchee.
