Mer Bleu Bog

Chris & I packed up Teddy in the Vue and headed for Ottawa on Monday morning. We have some medical and dental appointments before we leave for England next week. We had all of Teddy’s stuff with us because we were dropping him off in Kingston where Sarah will doggie sit while we are away. It’s amazing how much “stuff” a little 14 lb mini schnauzer has. Toys, food, toys, cage, toys……you get the picture! We decided to take Hwy 407 toll road around the north side of Toronto instead of risking the hassles usually associated with Hwy 401, the busiest highway or parking lot in Canada. It was smooth sailing all the way to the east side of Toronto and right on to Kingston. We met Sarah at Wendy’s in Kingston and passed Teddy off to her after a bit of lunch. We miss the little hairy monster already. Chris drove us into Ottawa and we were all checked in at our hotel by late afternoon.

Tuesday is our first day of appointments in Ottawa. After a quick visit with our financial advisor this morning it was off to the dentist. Just cleanings today so we were out in plenty of time to catch a movie this afternoon. Chris hadn’t seen The Avengers yet so we popped into Silver City to catch it. Awesome movie with plenty of laughs and great special effects. We even missed the thunderstorm that blew through Ottawa while we were at the movie.

Following a bit of supper at Eastside Mario’s, we went to Mer Bleu Bog in the east end for one of our favorite nature walks. We haven’t been here in almost two years but the boardwalk around the bog is still fabulous. We stood and watched beavers, muskrats and even a mink swimming around in the pond. It was a great after dinner stroll with no bugs, just the sun setting over the bog and boardwalk. I hope these iPhone photos give you an idea of how beautiful this spot is.

Doctor for me first thing tomorrow morning and hair appointment for Chris in the afternoon.
