We went on a walking tour of Lake Placid this afternoon. The town is about 30 minutes south of Sebring on Hwy 27 and is known for it's murals and for Toby's Clown School. Unfortunately, we picked a Sunday afternoon to roam around the town's core to see all the murals and most businesses were closed, including the Chamber of Commerce. We did have a nice tromp around though and I grabbed a few photographs along the way too.
Our afternoon continued with a counter clockwise driving tour around Lake Istokpoga along highways 621 and 98 back to Sebring. I threw on the 300mm lens along with the 1.4x tele converter before we left Lake Placid, just in case we spotted any birds of interest along the back roads. Our first stop was the dam at the south end of Lake Istokpoga. There are several pairs of osprey nesting here already and I was hoping for better luck than we had on our last stop here. We weren't disappointed at all as I spotted an osprey with a fish in its talons almost immediately.
Today's last shot is from our air boat trip the other day and is of a crested caracara with full flaps down. I'm pretty happy with this shot given the poor lighting in the late afternoon when it was taken.
