Burrowing Owls of Cape Coral, Florida

Chris & I have been thoroughly enjoying our stay at Riverbend Motorcoach Resort with our friends Tony & Christine. The resort is a true resort in every sense of the word. Many campgrounds misuse the word “resort” in their marketing schemes. Lord knows we've all seen our share of campgrounds where the word just didn't fit at all. Quite a few people have already left Riverbend but there is still plenty going on. We were invited to a fish fry and scallop dinner at the club house. One of the couples at Riverbend brought in the fish and scallops and other residents looked after selling tickets and doing the serving. We all played Pickleball for an hour or so the other day under the heat of the afternoon sun. Temps have been over 90°F the past few days and we've had all three roof top air conditioners running to keep things cool inside.

Tony and I headed to Little Estero Lagoon in Fort Myers Beach early one morning for a little bird photography but we've been so busy that I haven't had time to even look at any of my photos. We also took a run into Cape Coral on the way back to Riverbend to check out the burrowing owls. We found quite a few of them but we were there around 1 pm, so the lighting was pretty harsh. I'm including a couple of shots from Flickr in today's post.

Chris, Christine & I took a drive over to North Trail RV in Fort Myers yesterday to check out some of the new Allegro Busses and to also pick up a few bits at Camping World. We really like the 2013 45 ft LP with the J sofa and electric fireplace but it is a big jump up from our Phaeton and we aren't sure if it makes sense to upgrade or not. North Trail is a great Tiffin dealer in southern Florida and made it very tempting but we held off for now.

Today is another hot day in southern Florida but we are expecting rain this afternoon. We spent the morning helping Tony & Christine haul patio furniture and other items from both sites over to their storage facility across the road. It took a couple of hours and we were all done. Enjoyed watching The Masters on TV this afternoon. Tiger isn't playing very well today.

We head for Disney's Fort Wilderness in Orlando in the morning. Tony & I will be attending Photoshop World for three days beginning Wednesday while the girls do a little shopping and also check out Disney. After that we are on our way north with planned stops in St Augustine and Myrtle Beach along the way. Hoping the snow will be gone in Southern Ontario before we cross the border.
