Hello Winchester, VA

Sunrise at Myrtle Beach

We left Myrtle Beach early this morning heading for Winchester, VA, a drive of almost 500 miles. We were on the road shortly after 8:00 am and pulled into a Cracker Barrel around 7:30 pm. We don't usually drive that long but we wanted to put a good dent into our return trip mileage back to Canada. The weather was gorgeous the entire drive with relatively light traffic on I-95. We encountered some brief slow downs but nothing that lasted more than 5-10 minutes. We stopped every 2-3 hours for a stretch and to give the dogs a run around. Chris made excellent lunches for us to eat at one stop and of course we always had Keurig coffee at the ready with the quick start of the generator.

We picked our fuel stop carefully and chose a Pilot station in Emporia, VA where we fueled up for $3.59/gallon. Our next stop won't be until we reach the Flying J in Carlisle, PA on Saturday morning on our way to Thousand Trails in Hershey, PA. Tony & Christine lost a hub cap on the road unfortunately and have contacted Lazydays about a replacement seeing how it was them that worked on their coach earlier this month. Clearly, the hub cap wasn't put back in place correctly.

Here's a shot of Phaeton Place fueling up with the big boys. We cut over to I-81 by using Hwy 17 and I-66 once we got into Virginia. That takes us around Washington, DC and traffic was relatively light once we cleared Warrenton. This Cracker Barrel was marked as no overnight stay on overnightrvparking.com but we called ahead yesterday and were told parking isn't a problem. It's always nice to confirm before hand and we also asked permission upon arriving as well. There are three coaches here tonight. We enjoyed a nice supper at Cracker Barrel before taking the dogs for a walk and then retreating to our respective coaches for a little satellite TV. Vegas and Blue Bloods were both new episodes.

It's on to TT Hershey in the morning which is less than three hours from Winchester. We still plan on crossing into Canada on Sunday so our stop at Hershey will only be an overnighter I'm afraid. It will give us a chance to do some laundry and clean up a bit before continuing on. The girls hope to manage a trip to the chocolate factory as well if time permits. Planning on spending Sunday night in Kingston, ON before having our satellite alignment problem worked on by Armand in Peterborough, ON. We may even get into Green Acre Park later on Monday depending how things go in Peterborough. Almost forgot, we have to call Telus and reactivate our phones before crossing the border too!
