One last photo from our stay at Hilton Head. Taken yesterday just before we headed for Myrtle Beach. Traffic on I-95 was relatively light. The only stop we made was at Flying J in St George, SC where we fueled up for $3.83/gallon. We got separated from Tony & Christine as we left Flying J to get back onto I-95 and after not seeing them behind us for another hour we started to get concerned. Turned out they got stuck in traffic exiting Flying J so they punched in Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, SC on their GPS and wound up taking a completely different route. We called them once we turned off I-95 and figured they were way behind us. Imagine our surprise to see their motorhome in the check in line at Ocean Lakes Family Campground as we arrived. Their route turned out to be shorter after all!
Ocean Lakes Family Campground is humongous. It sits right on Hwy 17 with only sand dunes separating it from the beach and Atlantic Ocean. The map for this campground is four times the size of any other RV park site maps we have seen. Our sites are in H section and only steps from the beach. Full service hookups including 50 amp, water, sewer, cable and Internet. There are over 1000 full service sites as well as a fleet of rental golf carts and plenty of rental cottages too. Hoping we can stop in here again on our way back to Florida in November.
We all enjoyed a long walk on the beach once we had everything set up. Teddy loved the water but wasn't quite sure what to make of the salty water. I'm not sure who loved the water more, Teddy or Chris the Water Baby! Great photo Tony! We BBQ'd some salmon last night and had steaks on the BBQ this evening. Chris & I had Teddy out walking on the beach twice today and would have gone a third time after supper if not for a thunder storm. Teddy may dry out by Friday morning when we hit the road for Winchester, VA.
Here's a shot of some condos a little further north on the beach. We walked way past these this afternoon. Chris & I did a little spring cleaning this morning too. Another bag of clothes made its way to Good Will. We also managed to fit in a grocery run to Walmart and we found a liquor store nearby that had one bottle of Domaine De Canton French Ginger Liqueur with VSOP Cognac for special someone back in Ontario.
Our friends Doug & Joe left Tanglewood the same day we did and are now safely back in Ontario. Ontario has been experiencing some difficulties with the delayed arrival of spring this year. Temps are still on the chilly side and snow is still in the forecast. That's why we are taking our time heading back. Doug & Joe have a great sense of humor as evidenced by this hilarious cartoon they sent out to the Tanglewood gang the other day. How true, how true!
