Sanibel & Captiva

We packed up Friday morning and headed for Riverbend. Saying goodbye to good friends was tough but we managed to hit the road before 10 am. Got to Riverbend just after 11am and were all set up in time for 12:30 pm reservation for fish & chips in the clubhouse with Tony & Christine. It’s been averaging 87°F during day in south Florida for the last week with night time lows only going down into the 60sF. We even had the front air conditioner on last night to help cool thing off.

Tony & I headed for Sanibel Island before sun up this morning for a little birding. Photos to follow. The girls and dogs showed up for brunch at Over Easy Cafe on Sanibel. We sat outside with the dogs and had a wonderful brunch. Smoked salmon Benedict for Chris and pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage for me.

We drove out to Captiva island after brunch only to learn they did not permit dogs on the beach. Right now all of us are on Bowman beach on Sanibel. I sitting at a shady picnic table but everyone else is baking in the sun. Well they do have umbrellas and beach sun shades to keep cool and the breeze off the gulf helps.
