Its been another busy week or more for Chris & I. Despite both of us having chest colds, we managed to get all our medical and dental appointments completed last week. We also ran Chris's Bernina sewing machine out to Kanata for a service before we pack up and head for Nova Scotia later this month. Friday morning we were both up early so I could drop Chris at the airport before continuing on to Hanover for the weekend. Chris left Ottawa for Toronto at 9 am on Friday. By that time Teddy and I were already motoring into Bancroft in the Edge. I really like the comfort of the Edge on the highway. It is far less noisy than our Vue used to be but of course we had bike racks on the roof of the Saturn which are not on the Edge. Better streamlined now I suspect.
I kept myself entertained on my drive to Hanover by listening to Living the RV Dream podcasts that had been previously downloaded on my iPhone 5. John and Kathy Huggins do a great show which is always informative and very easy to listen to, especially on the road. Sirius satellite radio also entertained Teddy & I for part of the trip. Love The Bridge, 60s on 6 and Elvis channels. Anyone else have favorite Sirius channels that we should try?
We rolled into Hanover before 3 pm. It was great to see Karen & John again. We haven't seen them since last fall before we headed south. They've been busy remodeling their kitchen and it's looking pretty good. Of course, we had a bag of mail waiting for us but most of it is junk except for Chris's Holistic Nutrition certification. Karen already called us regularly if there was anything important while we were south. Lots of RV related reading material for me to catch up on too.
On Saturday I took a run over to the cemetery in Tiverton, near Lake Huron, to pay my respects to members of the Arnold family laid to rest there. It's such a pretty little cemetery. My late wife, Elsie, and brother in law, Mel, have now been joined by their parents Elson and Isabel in the family plot. I always get a little teary eyed being there. Hard to believe Elsie will have been gone ten years in August. I also stopped in to visit family in Kincardine and Ripley before stopping at Pine River Cheese factory for a couple of bags of cheese curds.
I had ordered a new passenger side camera for the side mirror of our bus from Tiffin because we keep losing the video feed. The techs checked all the video components on our last visit to Red Bay and thought everything was working properly but we lost the right side camera soon after leaving Red Bay on our return trip to Ontario. Tiffin shipped the camera and a couple of new drawer rails for our dash drawer to McPhail's of Harriston so I swung through Harriston and picked those items up on the way back to Hanover.
After a great visit with Karen & John this weekend, Teddy & I were on the road before 8 am on Monday morning for the return trip to Ottawa. We had great weather all the way back following the same northern route back to Ottawa through Orillia, Bancroft, Renfrew and finally Cumberland.
